busy birthday weekend

On Saturday we went to cousin Gracie's birthday party. Grace's family just got a new puppy, in time for their older dog, Griffin, to mentor him.
Sam really likes the new puppy, George. In the middle of all the kid action we'll often find Sam off in the corner, hanging out with George.
Grace, opening presents and reading notes from her family.

The boys always want to pull out the car race track that Uncle Jay built.

The next day we went to cousin Kai Leigh's pirate birthday party. She's visiting from California.
Arrrrggh!

Dwight & Julie's fishpond. Their daughter Laurie found out later that the trumpet playing frog statue had a bee's nest in its mouth. She tried to hide a treasure hunt clue there and got stung 4x.
What party wouldn't be complete without a pinata.
And on a hot sticky day, what better way to cool off than with a slip-n-slide. Kids had a blast. And went to bed pretty easily Sunday night.

A busy weekend or two like that is why I had my son when I was younger. Whew. What a good time.
