So the neighbors asked if the boys wanted to go hiking in Hillsboro, Ohio one afternoon. That was all fine and good, but Jakob hopped down about three feet and landed on a rock funny, fracturing a bone.
Doctors explained that at his age, tendons are actually stronger than bone. Even though the bone would likely heal on its own, as a precaution they recommended a cast for 2-3 weeks. Jakob got one that was blue with a glow in the dark stripe. Apparently things have come a long way since the plaster of Paris cast days.
Couple weeks later we are back at Children's and after a couple passes of a saw, the thing opened right up.
Jakob wanted to bring the cast home as a souvenir. For now, it sits on a shelf in our office.
