At least 3 years ago we bought a paella pan on a trip to Spain on a visit to see morfar. We so enjoyed eating paella when we were down there we wanted to try and make it ourselves sometime. Before we left we purchased a small to medium paella pan at an open air market and have been carrying it around since. Almost as big as a small garbage can lid with handles, we found over the past three years that the pan was good to make a number of things in including pizza and other things. Unfortunately, we hadn't made paella in it, until recently. It turned out great. It was so good, it might even turn into a new Labor Day tradition. We cooked it all over the open fire, adding a slightly smoky taste - even better. Jay's family joined us, and we borrowed the neighbor's outdoor furniture. It was a very satisfying way to say good-bye to summer.
