potential plans

We were thinking of heading to Sweden this summer since it's a significant milestone year, as mormor turns 80, and morfar turns 85. It's also been two years already since we've moved back. Our goal was to make it over there at least every other year, by hook or by crook. Just so happens that a benevolent offer has been made to help, so we are just waiting to make the final plans.

The fact that it has been two years already is in itself hard to believe. So much has happened since then in our little family's lives, and yet in some ways it seems like the 'living in Sweden' chapter has become a bit dream like for us. I know we experienced life there for two years, but what's it going to be like to step back into it after this time? And, with a different framework around our trip this time: instead of worrying about a future, a sense of normalcy and finding our place as transplants, this trip is simply about family, and visiting, having fun.

While there I am hoping to catch up with some buddies I've made. And of course, the boys have said there are friends they want to see as well. Of course timing might be tricky as most Swedes vacation for several weeks when we'll be there. Hopefully people will be around. Since Mon started a new job this year, and had to battle a case of chickenpox, she'll get a couple weeks in Sweden while John and the boys may be there for nearly four weeks - per request. Should make travel logistics interesting, especially on the way out when Dad and the boys and luggage are alone. Overall, looking very forward to it. Unfortunately, school work won't stop as John will be taking a required ten week online course, even while in Sweden.

Our point of departure may be Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. Our niece is getting married in late June on a beach in South Carolina. We would like to make the wedding and depart for Sweden the next day. Hopefully we can sort through the details in time to get the flights we want booked. After crossing the "pond" several times with little ones, it sure makes life easier with as few connections as possible. Can't wait.
