last day of school

Today is the last day our boys will be under the same school roof (and ride the same bus) until high school.  It is just the way the school system is set up in our district.  I guess in that sense it could be a sad day.  Perhaps it is more of  a mile stone.

Last night was Jakob's 4th grade "graduation."  I am not sure what to make of the title, but it was a nice send off to the next building that contains 5th & 6th graders.  The fourth graders sang, play xylophones, recorders, danced and narrated the event.  Retiring teachers, including Jakob's homeroom teacher, as well as the school's principal are retiring at the end of the school year.  They got special recognition.  The night ended with a dvd of class pictures of the kids from kindergarten to the end of 4th grade.  Nice touch.  As a proud parent, it was hard not to have a lump in my throat.  It was also great to see again that we landed in a really great community.

JJ Abrams would be proud of this picture - know why?
